It's boxing day 1943. After many years of protests the biggest dancing lounge of the North is eventually inaugurated in Stockholm.
On the dais there is Lulle Ellboj enumerating his new and youthful big band. There's no doubt he will succeed!
Within four years Lulle Ellbojs orchestra becomes the foremost Swedish band playing the latest music coming from USA. It shows that the band's sound is beloved by the audience - the dancefloor is always crowded.
Right from the beginning Ellboj successfully competes with other orchestra leaders to become the best band in Sweden. His strongest competitor is Thore Ehrling.
In ”En tummelplats för jazzruset” we follow Lulle Ellbojs work building up Swedens most popular orchestra. In fact, many of the national leading musicians, such as Arne Domnerus, Rolf Ericson and Gösta Theselius have actually started their careers in Ellbojs orchestra at that time!
Throughout the book Martin Westin make those people heard who experienced the times of Vinterpalatsets success. The result is not just the lively and exciting story of one of Swedens most successful musicians and orchestra leaders, it also provides a very interesting view on what life was like in the 40ies.
