Från ABBA till Mamma Mia!
by Carl-Magnus Palm & Anders Hanser
ABOUT THE BOOK
During the 1970s ABBA was the worlds best selling pop group. Since they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, their music conquered the world. With their songs and melodies ABBA topped the charts in almost every country in the world!
The last few years ABBA celebrated some kind of incredible revival. Today the group is more popular than ever before. The collection CD "Gold" has sold more copies than any of the bands early records, and the musical "Mamma Mia!", based on ABBA songs, constantly is sold out!
"Från ABBA till Mamma Mia!" contains closely 600 photos, taken by the photographer Anders Hanser during two decades. As a very dear friend of the band Anders could follow ABBA on a close distance and shoot unique photos! Unlike other photographers Anders didn't have to be content with pictures showing the band disappearing in a limousine after a concert. No, Anders would be around the band and document what happened inside the car!
Many of the pictures in this book have never been published before! For the very first time in an ABBA book all pictures are put in their context!
The books introduction has been written by Carl Magnus Palm, Swedens foremost ABBA expert. He tells the story of ABBA from a new angle and makes the book a complete and very lively portrait of ABBA and it's band members: Beginning with the 1970s when ABBA was the worlds biggest pop phenomenon, to the releases of the members solo records, the musical Chess in the 1980s, finishing with todays successes "Kristina från Duvemåla", "B&B" and "Mamma Mia!"
For the book several key persons who had worked together with ABBA have been interviewed: e.g. sound technician Michael B. Tretow, video director Lasse Hallström, record designer Rune Söderqvist, fashion designer Owe Sandström and organizer Anders Eljas.
"Från ABBA till Mamma Mia!" is an unique time document of Swedens biggest music export - ABBA - and it's band members Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
The preface was written by Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid!
