Svenne Hedlund sings Elvis in Memphis
Premium recommends:
The year was 1967 when Svenne Hedlund took a little discursion from the Hep Stars and recorded an album with Elvis songs only. Now, 42 years later it is again time for Svenne to make a dream come true and release the follow-up "Svenne sings Elvis in Memphis".
Recorded in may 2009, in Memphis and Nashville's legendary Sun Studio and RCA Studio, with his music buddies from the Hep Stars and guitarist Mats MP Persson (Gyllene Tider). Backed up by the Elvis musicians, guitarist James Burton and drummer DJ Fontana, as well as The Cadillac Band.
Produced by Mats MP Persson and Svenne' old Hep Stars photographer Ulf Stjernbo. A crammed CD with 31 songs - whereof 28 Elvis classics and 2 newer songs written by Per Gessle, who fancied the Hep Stars and Svenne in his teenage years.
Also, the Hep Stars classic "Cadillac" is featured in a special Memphis version, supported by James Burton and Mats MP Persson.
With this CD there also comes a DVD documentary, called "Från Vittinge till Tupelo", filmed in Memphis, Nashville, Halmstad, Vittinge etc. Follow the recording of the sampler and visit Elvis' birth place Tupelo (Mississippi) - and the Swedish village Vittinge, where Svenne was born.
In the documentary we get to know Svenne & his life, and watch some concert perfomances. The recording includes pictures of Svenne's long career that have never been published before.
This CD/DVD is published by Hep House Records.
