Description

Article no.: RAR-009

by Hakan Lahger & Lasse Ermalm

Three guys meet 1949 in a recording studio in Stockholms old town. Within some years the brothers Anders and Lasse Burman and their friend Börje Ekberg built the legendary record label Metronome.

It all started with jazz. Charlie Norman, Alice Babs, Lars Gullin, Harry Arnold and Arne Domnerus were the Swedish heroes who made the record labels' base, together with American jazz giants like Quincy Jones. Queer heads like Owe Thörnqvist followed, such as well produced schlager, performed by artists like Siw Malmkvist, Ann-Louise Hanson and Anna-Lena Löfgren.

In the 60ies new songwriters like Fred Åkerström and Cornelis Vreeswijk appeared on stage and showed the way to Swedish rock music. Pugh Rogefeldt was one of the first artists who followed Fred and Cornelis. Also John Holm, Marie Bergman, Bernt Staf and Ola Magnell became well known. During the 70ies Metronome earned the reputation as Swedens most exciting record label, and Anders Burman was celebrated as the country's leading producer.

"De legendariska åren" is the chronic about the most dynamic years in Swedish music history, and descbribes how people experienced a musical revolution. All the artists who for decades dominated the Swedish music scene have one thing in common: they all were made by Anders Burman and Metronome.

This book tells the story of success and takes the reader backstage. Anders Burman and his proteges have reached the top of success more than just once and wrote Swedish music history!

Bonus CD
A Bonus CD is included in the first edition of this book. For this CD Anders Burman has personally chosen 21 of his favorite Metronome songs. Amongst those can be found ”Boogie Woogie on S:t Louis Blues” by Charlie Norman, Quincy Jones/Arne Domnerus “The Midnight Sun Never Sets”, Per Myrbergs “Min fru”, Cornelis Vreeswijks “Ångbåtsblues”, Siw Malmkvists “Jon Andreas visa” till Pughs “Signe” and John Holms “Din bäste vän”.

This CD introduces the listener to the finest of Swedish jazz, schlager, popular songs and Swedish rock!
