During his seven-decade-long career so far, he has discovered Anni-Frid Lyngstad in Torshälla, who later became ABBA-Frida to the whole world. He has accompanied Monica Zetterlund, partied with Cornelis Vreeswijk, talked literature with Gösta Ekman and Ernst-Hugo Järegård, traveled countless miles in Ingmars Nordström's tour bus, sang bass with Martin Ljung, lived in Benny Andersson's apartment, and has registered 489 songs with STIM (Swedish collecting society for songwriters) so far, of which 9 have been on Svensktoppen.
BIOGRAPHY
Sandevärn's father was a church musician and music teacher in Burträsk. The family moved to Torshälla in Södermanland in his youth, where Gunnar Sandevärn began his career as a pianist in various orchestras. He toured in the 1960s with Anni-Ffrid Lyngstad, 1963-1966 as an orchestra leader with Lyngstad as a vocalist. From 1966-1968 he was a cruise entertainer on the Norwegian American Line. During the 1970s he was a member of Ingmar Nordström's orchestra and a very active songwriter, with several hits on Svensktoppen, including Göta Kanal, Vart tar alla vackra drömmar vägen and Krylbo Central. He also participated as a musician in the Hasse and Tage revue Glaset i örat (1973). Sandevärn later trained as a music and Swedish teacher and worked for many years as a teacher in Torshälla and Eskilstuna.
