by Peter Kagerland
500 bands. 1000 records. That's how you could easily describe the very first Swedish punk wave, between the years 1977 and 1982.
You could also write a book - this book! A punk bible which compiles all bands, and their biographies in a very detailed but also entertaining manner. Here, all records are valued from the collector's perspective, and additional chapters vividly describe what happened during the very firsts years of the punk era in the big cities, such as on the Swedish countryside.
Ebba Grön and KSMB have gained the biggest fanbases, but behind them, there are thousands of other bands who have been at least as inspiring and important to the development of Swedish punk music. Many of those acts released records. Madhouse, Four Mandarines and Butter Utter were the first ones, followed by many others.
Have you ever wondered what the first musical steps were like for Thåström, Freddie Wadling and Di Leva? Do you want to know who recorded the classic "Knulla i Bangkok", or how many singles Asta Kask released? Then this book gives you answers!
Here there are chapters about known acts, like Reeperbahn and Lustans Lakejer, but also smaller acts, like TuppJukk, Minx och Shas.
Preface by Kjell Alinge.
